Las diferencias entre auxilares y auxilares de modalidad.

Auxiliaries

To know the uses of  the auxilar, you need to know the different auxilaries.

 1. some auxiliaries are used to build questions in the present and past like do, does and did.

Ex: Do       you          like      coffee?

     aux   +   s          +  verb     + obj

I         do         not           play        video games.

      s    +   aux    + not      + verb      + obj.

2. some auxiliaries are used to make compound tenses, such as: present progressive, past progressive, present perfect with these auxliliaries:  am, is, are, eas, were, have, has, had...

Ex: I am playing now.  ( present progressive)

she has eaten that since she was 5. ( present perfect) the aux: has, main verb: eaten from eat.

we were cooking at 6 pm. ( past progressive) the aux: were, main verb: cooking from cook.

They had finished. ( past perfect) aux: had, main verb: finished from finish.

    Modal

The modal verbs are used not only in the affirmative, negative and interrogative but also they change the meaning sometimes.

If i take tthese two examples about the modal CAN.

Ex: i can play soccer.  (it means ability)

It can be raining tonight. (it means possibility)

Full answers( respuestas completas) y short answers( respuestas cortas) with do, does y did

Remember, in the interrogative forms, we use this formula:

(Do, does, did)  +  subject  + main verb + object?

Ex: Do you open the door?

      Does she cook the food?

Did they go by bus yesterday?

The short answers will be:

Yes, + subject + (do/does/did).

No, + subject + (do/does/did) + not.

Ex: Do you open the door?   Yes, i do.   or  No, i don't.

Did they go by bus yesterday?    Yes, they did.  or  No, they didn't.

The short answers will be:

Yes, + subject + main verb + object.

No, + subject + (do/does/did) + not + main verb + object.

Ex: Do you open the door?   Yes, open the door.   or  No, i don't open the door.

Did they go by bus yesterday?    Yes, they went by bus yesterday.  or  No, they didn't go by bus yesterday.

Do and does use to build questions in the present simple. Did are used in the past simple.

In the interrogative forms, the formula will be:

Subject  + (Do, does, did)   +  not  +  main verb + object?

Ex: They do not ( don't) open the door.

She does not ( doesn't) eat that.

We did not (didn't) go with them.

Does or doesn't are used with the subject: he (Juan), she (Ana)  and it ( the dog).

Las diferencias entre las formas condicionales (zero, primero, segundo y tercero)

To build the conditional forms, you need to understand how to shift from present to past to future and to past.

Zero conditional

It's used when you talk about a fact or a truth. Something that is true or real in the present past and future. The formula will be:

If  + subject + present simple + (object), subject + present simple + (object).

Ex: If you mix blue and red, you get purple,

If I drink too much coffee, I can't sleep at night.

First conditional

It's used when someting is possible or probable in the future. The formula will be:

If  + subject + present simple + (object), subject + will + main verb + (object).

Ex: if i have money, i will buy a big house for my family.

( it means, it's possible  or probable i have money, i buy a house in the future)

Second conditional

It's used when someting is impossible or improbable in the present. The formula will be:

If  + subject + past simple + (object), subject + would + main verb + (object).

Ex: if i had money, i would buy a big house for my family.

( It means, now, i don't have money, i don't buy a house, that impossible or improbable in the present).

Third conditional

It's used when something was impossible or improbable in the past. The formula will be:

If  + subject + past perfect + (object), subject + would + have +  past participle of the main verb + (object).

Ex: if i had had money, i would have bought a big house for my family.

( It means, in the past, i didn't have money, i didn't buy a house, that impossible or improbable in the past).

Las diferencias entre ED y ING adjectives

The ED adjectives are used to describe the feeling of people.

Ex: The students are bored.

      Ana is excited.

The ING adjectives arre used to describe things or situations.

Ex: The class is boring.

      The city is exciting.

      The game is interesting.

Ex: What do you like?           Resp: i like eating some pizza.

What does she want?       Resp:  she wants to play volleyball.

Las diferencias entre WHO y WHOM

Who?: is used to ask about the subject.

Who(m): is used to talk about object.

Ex: Ana is talking to Diana.

To find out the object, you need to build the questions by this way:

Who is talking to Diana?  Resp: Ana.

At the same time, to ask baout the subject, you must do the questions like this:

Whom is Ana talking to?   Resp: To Diana.
